I remember hearing this same tale of Buffett with OXY back in the throes of Covid because he had a very sweet loan deal no matter what happened. I bought a pretty significant stake at 8-12 dollars along with Icahn and a handful of Americans on a Facebook group I found, but everyone was selling. The sentiment was truly awful. I remember even seeing Buffett actually selling his dividend position that he was given in lieu of cash. This made me question my thesis but I saw the numbers and I kept on. I got out around the 30s thinking that was a decent gain. The stock is now double even that price and Buffett has massively quadrupled down at today’s prices, Berkshire owns over 25 percent of the company now. They just still see upside despite selling that 800m lot in the teens.

A lot of us think independently when it comes to value, that’s why we buy value, but it’s sometimes nice to see you’re in the company of investment giants.
