HVN and JBH are in the same space essentially - discretionary retail.
No-one needs a new couch.
No-one needs a new phone.
Interest rates up again today.
Unfortunately, the Australian consumer has everything against them - lowering property values, increasing rents, increasing school fees, 2.7 per cent cash deposit returns for retirees, expensive energy + fuel, stagnant wages.
Completely different economy for the Australian consumer than two years ago. Who would disagree?
ASX consumer stocks yet to reflect this reality in my opinion.
