Mr Winnie the Pooh is right.
From the annual report:
"Churn is the value of monthly recurring revenue (MRR) from subscribers who leave Xero in a month as a percentage of the total MRR at
the start of that month. The percentage provided is the average of the monthly churn for the previous 12 months."
If you start the year with 100 customers, a churn rate of 1% means from this original cohort, you will end up with 100 *(1-0.01)^12 or 88.6 customers. Roughly 11% of your original customers have left
That means the company has to add at least 11% new customers just to breakeven on customer numbers.
