If you apply for a SPP you pay whatever amount you decide to pay upfront, if it's oversubscribed the company may choose to take the surplus funds and allocate more shares or they may scale it back and allocate part of the shares you've paid for and refund the extra money.

I'll be trimming about 10k of my holding in hopes that I'll be allocated another 10-20k, if i get too much I'll sell down more and too little and I'll just be happy with the profit taking.

My original parcels were at 37 and 20c and I've done a decent amount of trading since then so my shares owe me nothing even ignoring the dividends I've earned along the way.
