The streaming giants are definitely moving into the local content space. Look at this year's Logies awards - "Boy Swallows Universe" won multiple awards, including winning best miniseries. This is a Netflix show. It's probably more watched than any Channel 7/9/10 show this year. No surprises there, as Netflix can outspend all other FTA channels in acquiring top flight local content.
Local sports - just a matter of time before streaming giants move in.
At the end of the day, audiences are moving away from FTA despite their heavy local focus. So I'm not sure it's the answer to everything.
