    Yep, it's definitely more than 20% once you add in the Medicare Safety Net on eligible items (assuming that most people undertaking IVF will reach that MSN threshold). It's still a big chunk of $$ though.

    Those specific figures quoted assume the patient has Private Health Insurance also. Although for most people considering IVF they are probably at the tax-bracket where you get effectively forced to take out PHI to avoid paying for it anyway in extra tax levies.

    I know a couple of people who've gone overseas to get these services more affordably, one to Asia and the other to Southern-Europe (but that one had a European citizenship through their grandparents emigrating to Australia in like 1955... so I guess that's slightly different (amusingly they couldn't speak more than about 10 words in that European language, and the first time they ever visited was to get IVF done cheaply, lol).
