FYI is about to test its process for producing high purity alumina (HPA) in a purpose built pilot plant.The source material is exclusively kaolin from Cadoux's own deposit in Western Australia.
The capacity of the modular system should be about 170 kilograms per week.
The engineers plan to operate the plant continuously for a week over a period of one week in June under the most realistic conditions possible.The tests should help to further optimize the flowchart.
More specifically, it seeks to gain insight into reaction kinetics, chemical equilibrium, material properties / mass and energy balances, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, instrument selection and constraints, and uniformity and homogeneity of the final product (HPA).
