Occupancy growth through improved staff training and development, is now an issue that G8 have to address. We were informed of a recent staff development day in Queensland that accommodated 511 staff, the day appears to be mainly about marketing. Marketing works for Ikea and Aldi, it is wasted effort to expect the same format to apply to early education.
Increasing occupancy requires the ability to connect with families within local communities, those communities are all very different, the needs of the families, the children and the staff are very different. Unless G8 recognise those needs and develop their centres at a local area level, success through increased occupancy will elude them.
For those of you on facebook, I suggest you 'like' a few G8 centres from different groups and monitor the feeds about vacancies and enrolments.
Not convinced that they are totally supportive or addressing the issue of staff development.
