Yes, sadly Mallee went into Nickel production just prior to the price getting pole axed by the Indo supply boom. A lot of highly successful people got caught on the wrong side of that (think IGO, Twiggy, and even BHP to some extent).
Project was marginal and needed Nickel price above 25kUSD/T. I think the positive you take out of it is that they DID get it into production when a lot of other similar projects couldn't achieve that (not through lack of want I might add). They were at the higher end of the cost curve and exposed to the commodity price.
Will be interesting to see what he can do IMO.
