Bad analogy I'm afraid - you have multiple live car sales markets you can check to see what the same make/model/year/condition of your car is trading for in any particular Australian state, or overseas.
With an unlisted company you have unsighted financials, no optics on the true operational or financial position of the company, no live market to determine the current valuation of the company, and no liquidity to exit if you wanted to. Just the EnergyX guys offering X amount of stock and saying "it's worth US$50M, trust me bro".
