Where did you get the " 11 workers" from? The ann. said " a number of employees and contractors" I'd imagine that the contractors represented either the installation contractor or the design/manufacturer of that section of the plant.
While all accidents are serious and need remedy, had the accident occourred in the course of normal operations rather than during a scheduled maintenance session, it would have been more serious for the company.
While the cause of the accident has been stated as " a blocked fibreglass pipe ruptured in the sodium sulphate crystallisation area of the Plant, during maintenance activities,....", it is not known whether the maintenance activities caused the blockage and the subsequent rupture OR whether the part of the maintenance program was to remedy this blockage. If the latter, then the situation may be more serious and require plant modifications rather than upgraded maintenance safety proceedures.
The ann so far has not qualified the situation sufficiently for us to make an educated guess at the remedy and consequently the stoppage period. We simply have to accept the ann. which said " the re-establishment of the area will likely be resolved during the scheduled outage" ( 3 weeks)
As a shareholder I wish to extend my sympathy to those who were injured and also to their families. Chemical burns can be very painful indeed.
With kind regards Moorookamick
