I just read your posts in AGO also.
Finally it boils down to luck .
A lot of smart guys invested with their best analysis in 2011/12 , lost most if not all of their investments and exited markets for good. We see posts reg such things in HC if we go back enough.
So if we invest in bull markets beginnings even average guys make a lot of money, if we invest in bear markets beginning even the best guys lose most or all of their money, this is the bottom line.
Always feel sorry when reading about such things, earning money in today environment is so difficult and stressful, losing it over a long period of time oscillating between hope and despair is a cruel thing no doubt.
