Agree.
I work full-time, study, and have started a project with a couple of people which we hope will be our full-time gig within 6-12 months.
That 6-12 month horizon is because ventures aren't profitable straight away unless you're funded heavily from the get-go.
Even something as simple as building a fence for someone; you gotta learn how, then you have to spend the money on materials and put in your time before you can invoice it...
