Yes copper can be better than gold right now and the copper run has only just begun, it will be huge and it won't be a flash in the pan. Its the next big thing.
Copper mines take many years to bring online and the market has underestimated the future demands of the EV market and there will be a major global shortage. There may be a minor lull for the next year or two and then we will see demand seriously outstrip supply of one of the most important and crucial elements of the EV revolution and the price will respond accordingly.
