GENERAL: CEN: Contact agrees to extend Te Rapa energy supply contract

Contact agrees to extend Te Rapa energy supply contract
Contact Energy Limited (Contact) announced today that it has reached
agreement to supply Fonterra with steam and electricity from the Te Rapa
cogeneration plant for a term of eight years commencing 1 July 2015. Contact
has supplied steam and electricity to Fonterra from the Te Rapa cogeneration
plant since 1999.
In a related but separate agreement, Contact will buy gas from Genesis
Energy. Contact will buy 27 petajoules of gas over the term of the Genesis
gas supply agreement, commencing 1 January 2015.
Contact's General Manager Trading, Development and Geothermal Resources,
James Kilty, said "it is good to have completed this long term extension of
the energy supply contract. We are pleased to extend our close relationship
with Fonterra and continue the safe and reliable operation of the
cogeneration plant which is vital to Fonterra's operations at Te Rapa.
Completing the supporting gas purchase with Genesis Energy is a significant
step for Contact as we contemplate our future gas purchase needs."
