Trading halt in Contact Energy shares
Contact Energy Limited (Contact) advises that it has been informed by Origin
Energy Limited (Origin) that Origin intends to undertake a sale of
389,314,921 ordinary shares representing all of the shares it controls in
Contact (Offer).
Origin has entered into a binding agreement to sell via an underwritten
sell-down.
Origin has requested that Contact seek a trading halt until it confirms to
Contact that the sale has completed.
Origin (through Origin Energy Pacific Holdings Limited, Origin Energy
Universal Holdings Limited and Origin Energy New Zealand Limited) controls,
prior to the sale, approximately 53.09% of the ordinary shares in Contact.
Accordingly, Contact has requested a trading halt be placed on its ordinary
shares (ticker code "CEN") effective from market open 4 August 2015 until an
announcement by Contact that it has been advised by Origin that the sell down
has been completed.
