Caltrans selects EROAD as technology provider to California Road Charge Pilot
16 March 2016 California Department of Transportation has selected EROAD as
its heavy vehicle technology provider for the California Road Charge Pilot.
The United States' largest road charge pilot to date is scheduled to run for
nine months from this July, in order to investigate road charging options for
possible replacement of California's fuel tax. EROAD is the sole provider in
the heavy vehicle category.
EROAD brings its expertise to bear having successfully developed and deployed
its weight-mile tax solution in Oregon and electronic road user charging in
New Zealand. EROAD strives to make tax and driver safety compliance easier
for motor carriers utilizing its full suite of compliance solutions.
Heavy vehicle participants in the California Road Charge Pilot can take
advantage of the full range of EROAD services including electronic IFTA,
electronic logbook, Oregon WMT, driver feedback, idle reporting, vehicle
maintenance reporting and more for no cost.
EROAD chief executive Steven Newman said the company was delighted to be
participating in the Californian pilot.
"We are excited that a transportation network the size of California's is
exploring more efficient road pricing," he said.
"The revenue from EROAD's participation in the pilot is not of itself
significant and is not expected to have any material impact on EROAD's
financial results for FY16 and FY17."
