MILLENNIUM & COPTHORNE HOTELS NEW ZEALAND'S CHINESE INVESTMENT COMPLETES NEW
HOTEL IN CHENGDU
Millennium & Copthorne Hotels New Zealand Limited (NZX:MCK) announces that
its 34% associate company in China First Sponsor Capital Limited ("FSCL") has
completed and inaugurated the M Hotel Chengdu, the Millennium & Copthorne
Hotels Group's latest hotel under its M series hotel branding. Completion of
this hotel, due to open in the third quarter of this year, marks another
milestone in the Group's investment into China.
M Hotel Chengdu is the latest addition to the Millennium & Copthorne
portfolio in China. It is a short drive away from Chengdu International
Airport (Shuangliu). The hotel is also a 5 minute walk from an area set to
be one of the most promising developments in south of Chengdu with high-end
housing, villas and shopping malls. M Hotel Chengdu is also close to the
Chengdu Metro and the Chengdu High Tech Zone Park is a short 10 minute drive
away with many Fortune 500 companies located within the Zone.
With 196 rooms and suites, M Hotel Chengdu offers accommodation with size
ranging from standard guestrooms to the Presidential Suite. A bilingual
customer care centre provides 24-hour butler service. As a business hotel, M
Hotel Chengdu has two well-equipped conference rooms. With its gym, indoor
pool, squash court, table tennis area, billiard room, kid's fun centre, as
well as a library, the hotel also presents an array of Southeast Asian and
International delicacies at its M-Caf. M Hotel Chengdu is currently the
city's one and only hotel to advocate fully "smoke-free" accommodation.
Chengdu is the capital city of Sichuan Province in western China and has been
an economic and financial centre in the region since ancient times. It is
home to the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base as well as various historic
and cultural sites such as JinLi Street, Anren and Luodai Historic Towns.
