Gents, update on the futures market below, reported up to Feb 16th.

Huge smash down during this period from the bullion banks
Looks like an orchestrated move based on the aggressive dump of short contracts over a very short period of time (1-2hrs) this would have triggered a few stop losses
Guess it worked, managed funds net long positions were shaken out by circa nett 20K contracts, which is massive, the equivalent of 2Mil Oz!
The 'Other' reportables slightly increased their net long positions and February is shaping up as a huge delivery month. Still strong demand for the physical metal
Managed funds are almost non-existent participants in the futures market, so, therefore, as long as we continue to see strong physical deliveries and metal pulled off both the comex and London market, at some point, you are going to see an actual supply short squeeze.
As long as the bullion banks stop naked shorting the market in the mean time, we should see the POG rise back to a level that is more reflective on actual supply v.s. demand. My view is that a fair price at the moment would be around the 1800-1850 range.
Best to ignore the garbage you read on mainstream media because the reality is very different to what you read/watch online. As previously noted, investors, particularly retail wishing to purchase gold coins or small bars are paying big premiums above spot prices and that is if there is any even in stock.
