Telecom renews 850MHz spectrum management rights

Telecom has renewed its management rights for 15MHz of spectrum in the 850MHz
range, which were due to expire in late 2012. The renewed rights give access
to this spectrum until November 2031.

Telecom Chief Technology Officer, Dave Havercroft, said the renewal of this
spectrum is a key part of Telecom's ongoing commitment to delivering the best
mobile experience for customers.

"The 850MHz range is the backbone of our current mobile network, and it,
alongside a range of other spectrum bands, will be crucial to enabling
Telecom to continue to deliver best-in-class mobile services for New
Zealanders, with a particular focus on ensuring we are well placed to
accommodate the explosion of mobile data and evolving customer needs," Mr
Havercroft said.
