SALE BY TAURANGA ENERGY CONSUMER TRUST ("TECT")

Trustpower Limited ("Trustpower") advises that it has received a press
release from TECT that TECT has sold 20 million of its shares in Trustpower
at a price of $7.74 per share.

The sale reduces TECT's shareholding in Trustpower to approximately 26.8%.

Trustpower has requested NZX to remove the trading halt in respect of its
ordinary shares.
