Xero conference highlights Australian progress

On Saturday (21st July) Xero online accounting software (XRO) hosted over 400
representatives of accounting, bookkeeping and software solution partners,
including 30 exhibitors, at its annual Xerocon conference in Melbourne,
Australia. This is more than double the number attending last year.
Delegates heard the following from Australian Managing Director Chris Ridd,
about progress in the Australian market and the Xero practice management
solution:
o In the wake of the successful acquisition of integrated payroll provider
Paycycle in 2011, Xero now has over 26,000 customers in Australia, up from
16,000 at end of March this year. More than 1000 Australian customers are
accounting or bookkeeping partners.
o Xero has increased the Australian employee base to over 40, up from 27 at
end of March. This includes the opening of a new office in Sydney headed by
National Sales Manager David New.
o Xero will develop Australian tax lodgement software for the Australian
market, following on from the acquisition of Practice Management provider Max
Solutions earlier this year. Tax lodgement, combined with the Spotlight
Workpapers acquisition, also just announced, will deliver a strong practice
management solution for Accountants and Bookkeepers.
