The answer is to your first line is yes, it did fall. Its a little basic riddle trying to highlight the long time argument of how epistemology links to metaphysics; juxtaposing the primacy of consciessness with the primacy of existence. The latter is true. The primacy of consciessness started with Plato and leads to religion etc, it is wrong. A thing is itself and existence exists apart from your senses. Your senses are there to sense, perceive and then conceptialize that which exists. So existence precedes conscienssness. You can not fake reality, (ie pretend to eat) for if you do you face the consequences (die). Anyone telling you that consciessness is primary is trying to destroy your rational faculty in epistemology and ultimately destroy your only means of survival; your mind. People like that live a fantasy and can only survive as a leech, physically and/or mentally, by taking the property from rational individuals by force (as they've suspended their rational productive ability), and by trying to please others emotionally (getting pseudo self-esteem out of people's reactions to them), again, as they've suspended their consciessnes for the consciessness of others and can find no pleasure individually through rational means. Just a little thought.
