Silex even then, seemed less than excited about the $500mill portion of that money which was to support a revolving buy sell haleu shceme, but seemed to care more about that $100mill not yet released portion, (now scheduled for later this year) which is for less purposed funding for initiative fuel technology funding. Enough so to give the Doe a public "hurry up" in their release.
It was obvious to me back then that Silex were only interested in that.
As for the tech, yeah laser issues may have arisen after nearly 2 years of successful testing and was said to be ready, but the seperator system is also new tech and still being integrated. To me that may be more likely to be critical path on the project at the moment. That said, from updates, the test loop shedule didn't have start up occurring untill sometime in the q2cy24. It's still q1, so in my mind still on schedule.
Nothing new, so I'm a bit surprised that people seem so disappointed at yesterday's announcement.
At a rough guess, what is new is that the congressional delays have meant that the bulk of the Doe's money comes through roughly at the same time that the Gle pilot is due for start up and the Doe has said that they are watching Gle closely.
