The formulation of the nasal balm will be such that it is non-irritant, easily applied to the nose and can offer up to six hours of protection from viruses and infections. As with the Natshield™ hand sanitiser, it will be safe if accidently swallowed and may be used by all age groups.

While the formal award of the global patent is expected in approximately 12 - 18 months, Holista intends to commercialise the Natshield™ nasalsantising balm in international markets by the third quarter of 2020 under the “patent pending” protection. This is before the onset of the flu season that coincides with winter in the Northern Hemisphere.

The patent was to have been filed at the end of March but was delayed mostly due to the ongoing lockdowns in the United States, Australia and Malaysia.
