Yep. I had the same thoughts about 3/4 model. Thing is that since Phil rocked up, there seems to be a lot more discipline re design / marketing / finance. He encouraged the board to cut off the loss making, low margin junk.
Charles now talks about 'most profitable' not 'high volume'. Couple that with Charles now focussed on what will be needed by industry / consumers in 5 years time, I think the company has matured signficantly in the last 2 to 3 years. I do not think that they will make the same mistakes they made a few years back.
Specifically, re the 3/4 wheel adventure - if it comes off- the company has the option of: 1. Re-envigorating the 3 and 4 wheel city model thay toyed with earlier with a Japanese partner. Not much expense with that. 2. Developing a 3 wheel version of the VS1 / Cpx model (maybe even a 3 wheel model of the CUX). The sort of thing currently on offer by zig zag in italy (one of Vmotsoco's partners) https://www.facebook.com/zigzagsharing . That way, vmt might even be able to usurp vmt's competitors to current share clients. 3. Also the company could build on its very successful Ducati experience and provide a souped up, branded, 3/4 wheel model of any the range currently on offer to sell into brand concious segments of the Chineses domestic market and/or European or other geo markets. I am thinking, for example, the Ferrari branded fiat bambino that was available exclusivelyas a 'tender vehicle' to proper Ferarri owners.
In short the opportunities are almost limitlesss. The trick is to ensure that you make $ on each and every venture and/or use the venture as adbvertising for the broader range/brand.
Getting a bit sick again of me hogging the the threads over the past couple of days so might take a rest until the after the annual report and the 'finances'. Except if something 'big' happens. And it might!
