Correct me if I'm wrong - buy you can add your buy order to the queue during the 'pre market' phase and when the market opens - depending on you buy price limit and where you sit in the queue - it will be executed. Nothing will actually be executed until that bell rings. So this morning you'll probably see the buy order start to go into the queue from yesterday after the close (people researching last night) and from those entering in this morning (like you now).
