    Gobbill partnerships fit the bill

Melbourne-based start-up Gobbill has secured two deals to further reinforce its credentials as a digital service of choice for companies looking to protect their customers from bill scams.
Founded in 2015, Gobbill protects users from online scams and late fees by scheduling and automating bill and invoice payments. It also helps them maximise discounts and secures their credit-rating scores; and allows small businesses to have the additional benefit of invoice digitisation, scheduled payments and synchronising data with their accounting software.
Gobbill pays bills issued from any Australian provider, including utilities, telecoms, council rates and insurance. Over the past year alone, the number of small businesses and households using Gobbill has increased more than 60 per cent quarter-on-quarter with payment volumes jumping more than 375 per cent last quarter compared to the same time last year.
The start-up has secured a partnership with financial wealth management platform myprosperity — helmed by former Xero Australia MD Chris Ridd — that will see Gobbill offer a seamless bill payment and management services to households currently using the myprosperity platform.
Gobbill co-founder and CEO Shendon Ewans said the deal would enable the company to reach an important customer segment.
“It also supports Gobbill’s growth strategy to increase the use of its product through key partners, expand internationally and position itself as the global leader in bill payment automation,” Mr Ewans said.
Mr Ridd said the Gobbill service was a good fit for the myprosperity platform. “With myprosperity we are creating an integrated platform where advisers and their clients can come together to manage and collaborate on their entire financial world,” he said. “We do this by creating an open and diverse ecosystem of partners whose products and services enhance the financial lives of our customers. As a leading innovator in automated bill payments, we’re excited to be working with Gobbill to streamline another critical element of a client’s financial world, their bills.”
Meanwhile, Gobbill has also signed a deal with ASX-listed payment and identity verification technology company iSignthis to use its technology to clear payments. According to Mr Ewans, the partnership is a strategic and important milestone for Gobbill.
“It enables our customers to pay any bill for billers that do not accept card payments or various card schemes,” he said. “To pay any bill using UnionPay or American Express is a significant offering, particularly for overseas Australian property investors and small businesses using Gobbill.”
The deal will also let Gobbill globally digitally identify customers to offer a convenient way of switching service providers.
“Gobbill represents an opportunity for iSignthis to support a prospective leader in bill payment automation, as well as for us to provide a means for them to expand outside of Australia,” said iSignthis CEO John Karantzis.
