Sadly... I have seen it before. Often there is a moment of peak fear and doubt and there's what is known as "capitulation " where those who feel sufficiently pressured to sell do so all together and all at once.
Usually it signals the bottom.
Some advice for newer market participants... when you decide to buy a stock it's best to do so in several small bites... and the same for selling.
2 reasons... you often get a better overall price and it minimises the emotional side of things.
