My point was that science and its practitioners haven't seen everything. Some of these minerals are extremely rare and not all geologists will have seen them other than in photos in research papers that they have read. I'm sure that the labs used by the company have access to petrological microscopes, scanning electron microscopes and mass spectrometers. No doubt Xray crystallography would be the ultimate tool but it might be a more painstaking process and expensive.
Im hoping, like you, that we get an explanation. Im sure that if were a simple process we would have it by now.
