I'm fine with the MD leaving as well, although it does seem like he has a good relationship with the rank and file staff, which shouldn't be discounted. I think NE is best suited to middle management, and could be an asset in that role, although I doubt he would accept being demoted. As you've said, what ALK desperately needs is a proven MD who is a natural leader, not someone who has taken a few courses in leadership and reflexively sticks to the formula because the whole leadership thing just doesn't come naturally. Unfortunately a natural leader in the role of MD would challenge Gandel's ego, which as we all know, must be preserved at all costs.
