Interesting question. With a decent project under the belt in Australia, it may attract institutional investors.... these help to provide good increases, as they have far bigger pockets than you or I.... with international projects there’s always sovereign risks, ie Way Linggo / international company / local ownership divestment requirement, as an example.... Australia’s always been considered “safe” for mining though I’m sure there’s other countries that are similarly also. The institutional investors appear to assume a higher risk profile for those that operate overseas, just going by the reduction in investment into companies that are purely operating overseas, though I’m sure there’s exceptions.... also with the economic conditions, interest rates on the rise, non producers have been impacted more than producers, even for those with very good all in sustained cost gold mining ~Au$1200 having been hit hard in terms of enterprise value....
