Groote resources had a project on groote island and they stuffed up the planning and talks with the traditional owners who were subsidised by bhp who already had an existing mine on the island, management at the time were a bunch of west perth cowboys who didn't pay the proper respect to traditional owners and consequently no permission was given to mine the waters around the island. Well that's my take on it, I'm sure we'll get conflicting accounts.
