re: Ann: Gold Resources Increase by 45% to 4.... I know Lihir has similar issues in terms of the pit geotech and the fact that they are mining well below sealevel.
The key differential for Lihir is grade, and their current head grade is north of 5g/t with the reserve grade >3g/t over the LOM.
With those kind of numbers, one can accomodate refractory ores etc (dont LGL use pressure oxidation autuclaves?) and still turn a good profit, it's just a heap more difficult when dealing with <2g/t dirt.
