I guess their original plan was to buy the 30% of Tropicana, and just sit and get paid year on year whilst not actually doing any mining... but they got outbid by Regis. Then.. they went for AOP, got outbid by RMS... finally just bought DEG shares...
Their original plan had been to just 'discover' another Gruyere and keep selling them to Goldfields... though, pretty sure they have proven they cannot find another.. even after spending north of $100m exploring around Gruyere.
But yes... they do seem unable to articulate just what they hope to do with DEG (though... they will when it suits).
