People commenting about a PGE discovery that are comparing it to an iron or copper mine.

Gonneville is the first of its kind in Australia and certainly the first with PGEs at such shallow depths.

PGE are usually mined in Russia and South Africa at depths of about 1km.

The deep mines are higher grade but also more costly, so they don't really try to process the oxidised ore.

Gonneville is open pit and trying to make the oxidised ore profitable to process as a starter mine on the way to going deeper.

Chalice has discovered higher grade PGEs deeper and is drilling more to find and define more.

The Gonneville open pit PGE Scoping Study is phase 1.
Mining the higher grade deeper PGEs is later.

I guess because there are no other discoveries like this and certainly not in Australia people commenting here are missing the point.
