You may be right and maybe after correspondence with the Mali government and GF, this solution (selling 5% JV to GF) was the only way that the project can move forward smoothly, with GF having more ownership so they can leverage their Chinese infuence on the Mali government.
Maybe it was a choice between losing a toe or a leg, tough choices had to be made and at least this way, we get to fight another day (thanks to the FFX shit stain).
And whose to say that if GF and LLL progress successfully as partners, they wouldn't just create another 50/50 entity for other countries/jurisdiction that doesn't include Mali's free carry? And have parity again. I think this is something that we should look forward to, and hopefully this Goulamina door will open many more for the GF/LLL partnership.
