The aim of the crushing/grinding of the raw ore is to liberate the spodumene from the waste minerals (quartz/feldspar etc) so that it can be effectively concentrated by exploiting the difference in density of the minerals.

The aim is get as close to that ~8% Li2O /100% recovery “perfection” scenario as possible, taking into account the cost of getting that perfect liberation.

The fact we are getting less than this means we are bringing waste into the product stream which is diluting the grade. We are also leaving behind some of the lithium in the waste stream. The main way to improve this would be to get better liberation by crushing/grinding the ore finer.

So, after that long winded explanation, I think the grade and recovery can be improved with further optimisation work, as the Company suggests. It will be a welcome improvement but not essential.

On the iron, although within acceptable limits, it could possibly be improved by running through a magnetic separator if needed. (I’m not certain on this point - whether this would definitely work or not, whether it would be worth the cost, or whether there is another way to reduce the iron )

Either way, the iron doesn’t seem an issue to me. We know BGS has low mica, which is good, as high mica is a problem that is harder to deal with than high iron.
