We have to realise that this is a lot of taxpayer's money and all applicants have gone through a technical evaluation stage (I believe there were three separate technical committees or so) before going to the final committee for a final decision. I'm sure the Labor party desperately wanted CWE to get up because of the Fremantle electorate and the REDP announcement from their facility and local Australian technology and all of that. There must be a reason why OPT was chosen above CWE. Maybe it was the Leighton factor? Its a shame we may never know the full deliberations of these committees. Hopefully more information will come out in the fullness of time.
