    A far higher percentage of grain travels by rail in NSW.

    It's not just the typically greater distances to ports, but also that the privatised John Holland Country Rail Network (JHCRN) has mostly ensured that the branch lines retained for grain trains are in reasonable to good condition.

    Some, like the Bogan Gate to Tottenham line (BG is west of Parkes) saw their first trains for about three years and were very busy as the harvest was great. Let's hope it again occurs from c.October/November 2021. The rest of the world needs us to have a bountiful harvest.
