'The Weekly Times' on Wednesday 15 September 2021 has a front page photo of a beaming Raywood, Vic (just northwest of Bendigo, on the rail line to Kerang, Swan Hill and the GNC silos at Piangil) canola grower, who further in the paper says any rain in the next few days will be icing on the cake, as the key question is how good yields will be.
However farmers' representatives say that decent rain in the Mallee and to a lesser extent the Victorian Wimmera is vital this week.
BOM is forecasting two to four days of showers from tomorrow in these Victorian areas. It may not be as much as the growers want, so especially in the more marginal Mallee, the jury must be out as to how the crops will go.
It's a better outlook in much of NSW.
