Not all oil assets are seen that way, and I think it's a convenient green narrative that is somewhat self-fulfilling, for now at least. Those assets being 'written off' are in jurisdictions where politicians are held capture by green opinion. Meanwhile oil producers, especially in the ME, are making out like bandits. The world will need every drop it has currently discovered, energy transition or not, and a substantial amount more regardless. The opinion discount and economic reality will eventually have a head on collision, and looming large at the same time will be the reality that most of the 'green' world has lost whatever energy security it once had.

Unfortunately CVN will probably be long gone by then, but whichever company holds the assets it once had a share in will be making bank.
