I haven't done the research yet on what COD have found, but in some of the Flinders Rages areas I have seen specular hematite + carbonate veining often to do with structures and diapiric breccias sometimes mafic intrusions and sills and folding with accessory sulphides in them, they often don't amount to very much even though they throw up quite decent base metal Cu As Co anomalies at surface, although I am thinking that the Hematite is something dense enough to maybe explain the gravity.
We have had gravity orientation surveys done on 25m spacings right over the top of known (small) sub-vertical Cu and Zn orebodies and you literally have to be standing on top of them for the gravity anomalies to show something interesting, they struggle to even locate Barite veins/anomalies sometimes, if the target is skinny and sub-vertical.
I get your point about the Komoa analogies, a lot of the earlier explorers went in there in the 1960s and 1970s into SA thinking about Zambian copper belt possibilities but judging by their spectacular lack of success, they didn't discover a world class copper belt in SA.
