If a written or spoken statement is published about someone (and 'published' effectively means made known to a third party), the basic defence against an action for defamation is that the statement was true. If the facts of the statement are true, an action for defamation cannot succeed.

So on the basis that the drilling campaign was a near total disaster from lost cores, to not enough pipe on site (who is it that can't count past 10?), etc it would be reasonable to state that the management of CTP exhibited GROSS incompetence and MASSIVE failure of oversight in the management of their contractors.

All without the slightest fear at ALL about litigation. Wouldn't you say?
