Given this announcement failed to detail material facts - that Fruit Box themselves described it as a "pilot" and didn't take it any further, that seems to me to be as open and shut a case of a breach of continuous disclosure rules as it is possible to be.

If you want to describe it as a lie, then go ahead. I'd describe it as a breach of continuous disclosure.
