Electrc heating is inefficient and expensive; those people on current affairs and news TV with $2000 electricity bills are the ones using electrical heating, quite often low income with no other alternative. Our gas bill for the winter quarter is around 30% of this, and includes hot water and cooking.
I wonder what's really behind this? I thought The Age was now on the right side of politics. My suspicion is an attempt to reduce domestic consumption to shore up industrial supply. Things are often not as presented at face value, an ulterior motive lurking in the background.
The current situation puts us in the box seat, never have I heard so much gas talk in the media. It's bound to influence Coopers' share price in the positive.
