Yeah BHP biggest producer of silver in the world for single company. But they are fully hedged and they have relinquished price control to the bankers (like many other companies). BHP doesn't even manage the the price of their silver production. Funny how the bankers have this involvement with precious metal producers, to keep the price down perhaps?
No doubt CCU will be given financing with no hedging constraints. Normally in the past banks that financed precious metal producers wanted hedging to make sure their investments could be re-payed. Now silver and gold producers are being given finance without hedging constraints. This means it is very likely the price of precious metals is a certainty to rise.
