I think from a skills perspective having someone from a more marketing/consumer oriented background could be a good thing for Consumer. There is much less difference between providers than historically, so its becoming more about perception and brand management than technical differences.
So im happy with the new appointment for consumer, but i dont really know about scott. Michael Simmons seems to be a good leader, and now that he has time in Enterprise im sure he could pull Scott into line if it came to that, or at least be in a good position to judge.
I dont know what Michael is like with strategy, or if he is really mostly about execution, but perhaps he is doign the rounds in each division, incase they want him to be CEO one day, he was on the board previously as well, so he must have some flexibility.
Keep in mind we have a lot of experience on the board with Robert Mansfield in particular as deputy chair, and John Ho with a lot of skin in the game (10% holding, and financial interest in another 10%). They should be able to spot bad performers, and they have shown they can be quick to change things around.

Re: the Board experience: Julie Fahey has also had significant exposure to Telstra over many years in her Management Consulting roles, and time at SAP.
