Governments willing to make the hard choices and lock down knowing that the economic repercussions will be around for some time.
Citizens who have mostly followed the guidelines AND the laws and respect each other. There’s been a few uprisings but you get that in a crowd.
The end result of all of that is our vaccination rates have almost reached targets to open up and we have only had around 1400 deaths.
If you line that up with the statistics from the States and a lot of other countries then you can see we have done very well indeed.
I agree it’s time to move on now tho. Hospitals will be smashed for a long time to come still. Hopefully appropriate measures will be taken to increase staffing and bed numbers so elective surgeries and normal clinics etc keep running.
Back to statistics - taking population numbers and deaths into account - you would have been 40 TIMES MORE LIKELY to have died from covid if you lived in the States vs Australia in the last 20 months.
Guess the combination of compliance and masks has worked well.
