It is hard to know. Following the breach of its covenants its funding of $75 mil was pulled back to $50 mil, so to all intents and purposes it had to shut down its loan book which had been overly successful, at the same time wiping out some bad debts from the business it paid for and caused the breach when its Balance Sheet was undercapitalised. It has also had to deal with the new AASB9 which sets a high bar for loan loss provisions (conceivably having to report more than reality). All that is downside, so the market clearly jumped at the reported profit. Perhaps if and when the refinance or capitalisation (or both) are announced the same could happen again, but it is understandable that the exuberance did not persist while these things are unresolved. Having said all that, like many others, the SP was so depressed and the market is so primed for bad news that even a sliver of good news makes them go mad lol
